The Starhammer Duchy was first established on Nordoyggar, The northernmost island in the Færøerne, in the Kingdom of Denmark on Old Earth in 910 AD. The First Duke Starhammer, Freki Arnarson, was ceded the region by Thorfinn Karlsefni in the name of Harald Fairhair King of Norway.
In 996 AD the Duchy was imperiled as Olaf Tryggvason, then King of Norway sent Sigmundur Brestisson to take back the islands. Freki's son, Aksel, who by now had officially adopted the surname Starhammer, slew Brestisson to secure his hold on the lands.
Aksel Starhammer united the islands under his rule in 998 AD. Creating the stable government that lasted until the EVE Wormhole opened in 7703 AD.
In 7704 The Duke Starhammer, Jarl Starhammer, decided to take his people on a Viking to this new frontier. By 7790 the entire Starhammer clan had passed through the wormhole and began exploring New Eden. In 21875, fleeing the Moral Reforms the Clan settled the fourth planet in the System that would be called Bashyam. Bashyam IV was a temperate world with one moon, the clan felt at home for the first time in centuries, it held much in the way of resources and the Starhammer Duchy was transferred to this system.
Starhammer people then began to work hard, mining ores and building great ships. Their attention to detail and incredible artistry earned them a strong place in the markets of New Eden. As their reputation grew so did their territories. This began to place a strain on the ability to govern the Duchy, Making it hard to defend against corporate and governmental rivals.
In YC 5, shortly after the Yoiul Conference, Torvalds, Duke Starhammer, decided to release all planetary holdings and move the Dukedom into space. The Starhammer Shipwrights Consortium was incorporated and Began to spread though all of New Eden.
In YC 118 I, Odin Torvaldsson Starhammer the Duke Starhammer, earned my commission as a Capsuleer establishing my immortality and making me the perpetual ruler of the Dukedom of Starhammer.
