END CANNABIS PROHIBITION! STOP OPIOID ABUSE!

Cannabinoids are natural chemical compounds produced by the cannabis
plant (i.e., ∆9-THC, CBD, etc.). Scientists have isolated over 85
cannabinoids; however, only a handful of cannabinoids have known effects
on the body. The most commonly known and researched cannabinoid is
∆9-THC (known for its psychoactive affects), followed by ∆9-THCA,
Cannabidiol (CBD), and Cannabinol (CBN).

Cannabinoids act on cannabinoid receptors: the CB1 receptor in the
Central Nervous System (CNS) and on the CB2 receptor localized primarily
to immune cells. This system is known as the endocannabinoid (internal
cannabinoid) system; which, is common in animals, and has been found in
mammals, birds, fish, and reptiles.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The endocannabinoid system’s role in human physiology is broad and
multi-faceted. The central nervous system, the immune system,
cardiovascular system, reproductive system, gastrointestinal and urinary
tracts all contain cannabinoid receptors and are regulated by
cannabinoids—with one important exception: the brainstem where, among
other vital functions, respiration is controlled. This is why cannabis,
unlike opiates, does not suppress breathing, even at high dose.
The
endogenous cannabinoid system, named after the plant that led to
its discovery, is perhaps the most important physiologic system involved
in establishing and maintaining human health.
Endocannabinoids and their receptors are found throughout the body: in
the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells.
Trichomes are how we determine when to harvest our plants and they hold
the oil and medicine.
Trichomes: They are produced by marijuana, and other plants. Female
marijuana plants produce certain trichomes that are a rich source of
THC. These trichomes can be found in their largest concentration on the
buds. They start out clear, turn a milky color, then turn amber (light
brown).
Terpenes: The major components of resin, and the essential oils and
extracts produced from resin. Approximately 10-29% of the percentages
and ratios of Terpenes vary from plant to plant. Age, maturation,
collection methods, climate, and weather all affect terpene and
flavonoid production. Terpenes are produced in the trichomes, the same
glands where THC is produced.
The term medical marijuana took on dramatic new meaning in February,
2000 when researchers in Madrid announced they had destroyed incurable
brain tumors in rats by injecting them with THC, the active ingredient
in cannabis.
The Madrid study marks only the second time that THC has been
administered to tumor-bearing animals; the first was a Virginia
investigation 28 years ago. In both studies, the THC shrank or destroyed
tumors in a majority of the test subjects.
Most Americans don't know anything about the Madrid discovery.
Virtually no major U.S. newspapers carried the story, which ran only
once on the AP and UPI news wires, on Feb. 29, 2000.
